Whether you're totally new to therapy and starting this process for the first time, or a self-exploration veteran, beginning with a new therapist can be both exciting and intimidating. I am here for you! My primary focuses of treatment include anxiety and depressive disorders; relationship distress, parent training, and exploration of gender, sexuality, culture, and other aspects of identity. I work with each client to help them gain the rich, fulfilling, and meaningful life that we all want.
If I were a fly on the wall for one week, would I be able to know exactly what is important to you based on your actions, words, and how you spend your time (and with whom you spend it)? For many of us, our mental health prevents us from living congruently with our values or fulfilling our potential. We just don't know how to overcome these hurdles.
I will help with that! I meet my clients where they are in life, and build on their interests, natural coping skills, strengths, personal beliefs, and values to help them create a life worth living. I look forward to helping you identify and overcome the barriers that are getting in your way of reaching your goals. Hope to hear from you!
Abby Costello, PsyD
I believe that healing often occurs best in the context of a safe and trusting relationship between a client and therapist. As a psychotherapist, I strive to create a secure, caring, and collaborative relationship with each of my clients so that therapy is a place they feel fully seen, heard, understood, and respected. I work from an integrative and holistic perspective, meeting each client where they are and working collaboratively with clients to reach their own personal goals and to create lasting, meaningful change and healing in their lives.
I offer treatment for a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief, identity development, perfectionism, stress, and relationship struggles. I have particular expertise in working with survivors of interpersonal trauma, and specialized training in treating eating disorders and body image concerns.
I have conducted therapy across many settings and have witnessed clients’ profound ability to overcome obstacles and change their lives when provided with a supportive environment. Being able to build trust with clients that allows them to share their innermost thoughts, feelings, and experiences to help facilitate meaning change is a privilege.
Peter Kozel, PsyD
I enjoy working with clients with a wide range of backgrounds, presenting problems, and personality styles. To me, therapy is a way of not only reducing symptoms, but creating a life that allows for greater joy, psychological resilience, and fulfillment. Whether you have struggled with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, feelings of emptiness, questions of self-worth, difficulties with self-compassion and acceptance, having unsatisfying relationships, or just that something feels “off” in your life, my role is to collaborate with my clients and find that missing piece or inner peace that is essential for healing and growth.
I use an integrative approach that weaves together how we think, feel, and behave to address our struggles, needs, and what is important to us. While reducing the frequency and intensity of symptoms is an important step, I also believe it's important to focus on helping my clients grow into the people they want to be.
